A Plague Tale: Requiem - Release date announced, extended gameplay trailer and more
A Plague Tale: Requiem's release date was announced at the Focus Showcase organized by Focus Entertainment recently. The sequel to the critically acclaimed A Plague Tale: Innocence was first announced at Microsoft's E3 conference in June 2021.
Fans have been exclusive to a few gameplay trailers since then, with a glimpse into the game world and familiar characters.
A Plague Tale: Requiem will take players on a brutal journey through a breathtakingly beautiful world with siblings Amicia and Hugo. The growth in their characters is evident from the clips shown. The game will also include new weapons, sights, enemies and more.
A Plague Tale: Requiem will arrive in October this year
The highly anticipated game will be released on October 18 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It was also announced that the game is now available for pre-order for platforms. The game will also be available on Day One with a Cloud Edition on Nintendo Switch and Xbox Game Pass for Console, PC and Cloud.
The 12-minute long gameplay trailer was shown on the Focus Showcase. The clip begins with Amicia swinging on the swing and Hugo gently pushing her. The atmosphere seems warm, peaceful and calm; this is in contrast to the violent gaming world that fans saw in the latest clip from the Xbox Bethesda Games Showcase.
In the next scene, Amicia and Hugo are talking about an island with a stranger, when soldiers suddenly appear to search for the old island, which has killed several soldiers.
This was important in the Xbox Bethesda Games Showcase trailer, where Amicia embraced her fierce turn and killed several of her opponents in hopes of bringing the fight to them. In A Plague Tale: Requiem, there is a sense of guilt far from Innocence.
While fleeing from the soldiers, the brothers fall into a red quarry. The structure and soundtrack reflect the oppressive ambiance of the game sequence.
Players can also take a look at the various tricks on their hands. Hugo can sense soldiers ahead with the help of mice that can detect human blood.
In the clip, the soldiers talk about a group called The Wall and wonder if Amicia is a member. Fans also see him killing soldiers in a variety of ways, including with a crossbow and a knife. Throughout the sequence, Amicia is injured in the head, and Hugo periodically warns her to be careful. He also suffers from occasional disorientation and bleeding.
As he weakens, Hugo summons legions of mice to look after the soldiers. Hugo loses consciousness as the rats turn and run towards the two heroes and the scene turns black. The expanded game reassured fans that A Plague Tale: Requiem is poised to carry forward the legacy of the first game.
The sequel's clip clearly captures the essence of the relationship between the two, how the two characters grow to fit in with the world around them with their abilities and strengths, and how the world reacts to their presence. A Plague Tale: Requiem has high expectations to meet, and it looks like the title may exceed them.
Focus Interactive also confirmed that the Collector's Edition of A Plague Tale: Requiem is available for purchase. It will include a resin statue of Amicia and Hugo, Hugo's Feather brooch, a vinyl of the OST, three lithographs and the game.
