Fornite Adds New 'One Shot' Mode
In the latest weekly update for the massive popular Battle Royale mode in Fortnite, Epic Games adds a new and intense limited time mode known as One Shot.
For a multiplayer game that has only really had one map for players to fight on since launch, Fortnite has managed to find that sweet spot with updates in order to keep community interest strong. In addition to continually adding new content, game modes, and map tweaks, Fortnite has been able to sustain its audience thanks in large part to consistent updates to address any issues that may crop up. And now another week brings another update to the massively popular Battle Royale game.
Patch version 7.20 features a handful of key changes to Fortnite including a brand new mode known as One Shot. In this mode, players start with only 50 health in a map featuring low gravity. As the match progresses the only way to heal is to locate bandages and to make things even more challenging, only hunting and sniper rifles are available to use. Finally, the storm wait time has also been reduced in all phases, making this a tense and faster-paced mode than what many may be used to.
The update also added the scoped revolver to the game, a weapon that shoots medium ammo and comes in both epic and legendary varieties. A glider redeploy item has also been added and, as its name implies, it allows players the ability to trigger their glider at any time. In addition to bug fixes and game improvements, this update also adjusts many of the weapons in the game, like the minigun, and changed the rarity of some in-game items including adjusting Balloons and Stink Bombs to rare from epic.
While these changes will no doubt be appreciated by much of the community, Epic Games and Fortnite recently seem to find themselves involved in more controversy than ever before. The studio now faces multiple lawsuits, many of which are centered around the iconic dance emotes in the game. The latest comes from Rachel McCumbers, mother of Orange Shirt Kid, who is credited as the person that made the dance move known as 'the Random' popular. In Fortnite, the emote is dubbed Orange Justice and was added as an unlockable tier on the season 4 Battle Pass.
